Whether this is your first time at Calvario, or you have been here before, we want to make it clear to you that you are welcome and you are loved!
We understand that visiting a new church can be a very intimidating experience. What will they be wearing? How do they worship? Will I feel welcome? We hope to answer all of these questions and more so that your first visit at Calvario can be the most blessed and uplifting experience possible. After reading this, if you still have questions or specific needs, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help you.
At Calvario, you will find friendly people, cutting-edge worship music, and relevant Bible teaching in a comfortable environment. If you would like to view a past service for an indication of what to expect you can do so by visiting our webcast archives.
You will find people that dress in all fashions; suit and ties, shorts and t-shirts, and everything in between. We have a “come as you are” philosophy knowing that God looks deeper than the outward appearance, He is interested in the heart (1 Sam 16:7).
Services generally begin with one or two worship songs, followed by some brief announcements to let you know what is happening at Calvario in the coming weeks. After another song or two, Pastor Greg will give a message designed to help you apply biblical principles to everyday life. This message will last about 45-50 minutes in length. That might sound long to some, but trust us, with the practical application and quirky humor, you will be longing for more.
After the message there will be a closing song or two and an offering is then received (as a first-time visitor you will not be asked or expected to give an offering. You are our special guest!). You will then be welcomed to talk to or pray with our pastor or one of our elders after the service.
Over the course of the years we have observed a tendency within our Hispanic community. Although the second and third generations retain their Latino culture and speak both English and Spanish, it is common to find that they prefer to learn in English. Due to this desire, we have witnessed families separating and going to different churches and “eating from different pastures”.
We believe that God would have our families fellowship at the same church and enjoy the same Bible teaching. That is why we began offering both Spanish and English services. Both services are identical, all the way from the worship to the sermon, just in different languages. And for greater convenience, we offer simultaneous in-ear translation to the opposite language so that if the whole family wishes to attend the same service, they can.
Also, coinciding with the English service, Spanish Bible studies are offered for the adults, and during the Spanish service College and Youth programs are taught in English. This way the family can continue to come and leave church together. The choice is up to you!
Classes are available for Infants through 6th Grade during all of the services. Our desire is to make Sunday School a positive experience, therefore we make every effort to welcome your child in the name of Jesus. Every classroom has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of your child and is staffed with trained volunteers who love the Lord. Fun worship, great curriculum, hands-on crafts and activities, playgrounds and age appropriate classrooms help make your child’s visit to Calvario’s Children’s Ministry a meaningful and pleasant one.
Children may be checked-in fifteen minutes before the service begins. They can be sign in at their room where they will be warmly greeted by their teacher. During check-in, your child will be assigned a number and you will be given a duplicate numbered tag which you need to have with you when picking them up. If for any reason we need to notify you during the service, your child’s number will be displayed on the TV monitors in the Sanctuary.
Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please ask one of our greeters at the door for help, and they will gladly walk you through the check in process.
Again, if you have any special questions or needs, feel free to call our offices and we will be glad to assist you and make your first visit to Calvario a blessed one.
Unfortunately, parking is always an issue for us, but it is also a good sign that the church is growing and people are excited to come. For your convenience, we have set aside special “First-Time Visitor” parking spaces in our front lot. There are also several special-needs handicap spaces in close proximity to the church building.
Hope to meet you soon!
